Break In
I now have about 10,000 miles on my car, the gas mileage is excellent, it hasn't used any oil and the zero to 60 times have decreased.
I believe the most important thing to do is to VARY your speed the first 2000 to 3000 miles. By this I mean, accelerate at a modest pace from 45 to 60 and then slow back down by taking your foot of the gas. Taking your foot off the gas creates a high vacumn and forces oil around the rings to assist with seating them properly. Gradually increase your speed variations until you are going from 65 to 80 and then 70 to 85 (or higher) if you feel comfortable doing that and have a safe place to do this. It's especially important to NOT use the cruise control during this break in period.
