What kind of discount to expect for E320 in Bay Area?
May go shopping for an '03 E320 in the Bay Area this weekend. What kind of discount can one expect to negotiate? How much below or over invoice? Which Bay Area dealer is hungry for business?
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. If you've recently bought an E320 in the Bay Area, please share your experience and the amount of discount received? Thanks in advance!

You'll get the best deal on what the dealer has on the lot - but inventory is backing up so they may be aggressive on price for cars coming in vs. new orders. Smythe had a huge number of E's in their secondary lot - mostly E320's. In general Smythe and Beshoff are most aggressive on price - don't know about Autobahn and SF Mercedes. you'll get a better deal on E320's and non-sports - Invoice or below. Deals seem to be better in SoCal rather than NoCal so it may be worth a trip down there if you can find one for 2K under invoice.

Meant to respond last week but things got busy at work.
I purchased my E320 from Autobahn in Belmont in Feb '03. I received $1500 off my E320 w/ sports pkg. It's probably not the greatest deal but I was pretty eager to get my hands on the car. I'm sure I could've gotten more off if I was more patient.
Claridge of Fremont was quite willing to deal (at least superficially) when I mentioned I was purchasing from Autobahn. I think Claridge had slow moving inventory at the time but not in the specs I wanted.
I don't like Smythe in Santa Clara. I've been there twice in the past and they don't appear very attentive to you. Also, I sent them a dealer inquiry via one of those Autobytel-type websites and they never responded. Oh well - they just lost a sale.
Since I work in the Valley but live on the Pennisula, I'll probably take my car in for servicing at Smythe.

2000 under invoice!
I originally started this thread to help a friend. She bought an E320 this weekend for $2000 below invoice.

I've been shoping hard for about a month now and it seems that dealers are either unwilling to deal below invoice on certain colors (I'm looking for Tectite) or are unwilling to go under invoice on Sport (which, if I could get it, I care a little less about the color).
