Red Battery displayed
This is on our 2003 E320 "sport" edition.
This weekend we encountered a "1 malfunction" and then an image of a battery colored in red, saying to bring the car into the workshop. We removed the key, restarted the car and the display has not shown again. The car is only three months old, I wouldn't expect battery problems so early. Is this something to take notice of or is it a 'software bug' to ignore until the display becomes replicatable?

You may have a loose battery cable connection. Would be surprised if there is an oxidation problem so soon, but if you see white powder forming at the contacts then clean it with a toothbrush and baking soda solution.
That is, of course, if you can find the battery
my wife drove the car home and didn't realize the setting so we just parked it in the garage and went into the house. the lights stay on for a little while anyway so we figured it would just turn off.
we have keyless go so the beeping when you open the car door didn't mean anything to us (i've learned to drown out that beeping).
so the next day, the battery was dead.
we had to jump start the car with the battery in the trunk. after starting, we had that message. it was there because the battery is very weak.
after driving the car around for about half an hour or so...we turned off the engine and turned it back on again. the red battery was gone and no malfunctions.
Rock.
