Has anyone purchased new Headlights on Ebay

Just wondering if anyone out there has purchased new headlights on Ebay and installed them. If you have can someone upload pics to see how they look. Also how hard was it to change them.

Several threads on the same subject: Do a search.
Some of the guys were happy with the ebay lights and I am considering getting a pair as well.

Do it.. I got the 07+ made for the 02-06... they came with 6k hid preinstalled, and they look really really good. Search my username I posted pics already, but the pics don't do them justice... Install was 130$ at my local indy.

care to point out a few good options on eBay....... if you don't mind of course. So many on eBay, hard to decide which are good and which are not. Many thanks!

Platinum:

On your recommedation I bought the same lights from the same seller.
Got the 6000, white, not blue lights.
Having a Indy install 'em this evening.
What is the little silver box attached? Some kind of capacitor or some such thing for HID?

They look good in the box and can't wait to get 'em on the car.

This is the "before picture":

The high beams are yellow and the primary lights are white...Not sure if I like that combo or if I will notice.
The lights did not come with much paperwork or description so I am not sure if both lamps are HID or not, or what bulbs they take, etc.

the "silver box" you were asking about is the ballast for the HID, and yes your high beams will be yellow as they are incandescent bulbs. you will have to instal another set if you want them to match because they are separate bulbs (highs and lows), same goes for your running lights, bumper lights (LED's) and fog lights (HID)

Hmm, the seller did not mention that in the ad..

So, I need "ballast" and HID bulbs for my high beams then? How much is that...? Easy plug and play or some more magic and hocus pocus to make it work..?
I bought the new lights for clear lenses and did not pay attention to the bulbs but of course expected 'em to be all the same..Oh well, will see what the ebay seller has to say.

FYI, that's also the way they come from the factory.

yes, HID kits are super cheap these days, most plug n play. just make sure you get the ones with canbus canceler that way you don't get an error code.

Canbus canceler...?

if you buy the HID's made for your car they should have them already

Wait, somebody said the stock HID also had regular halogen bulbs for the high beams whereas the main (big lights) only had HID bulbs.

Now you are saying there is HIDs made for the high beams..?

Not trying to be smart here, just trying to wrap my mind around basic head light info without making it a hobby.

Question: Was it an option on W211 to have both high and low beams HID?

Question: If I want to equip my high beams with HID to "match" the 6000 white HID from the low beams, do I just go to PEP boys, plunk down say $20.00 and buy the bulbs, then stick 'em in the proper openings, then drive into the sunset...?:D

NorseWagon 09-10-2012 12:39 AM

The ebay seller just got back to me and said I could use these bulbs to match the white HID lights:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/H7-HALOGEN-X...7b4149&vxp=mtr

It says they are Halogen and HID/Xenon...So do I need a box for these or not..?

Craftysince86 09-10-2012 01:00 AM

... lol

ok...

so... low beams, are HID/xenon, high beams are normal halogen. according to what the other guy said that is how they come from factory.

HID/xenon bulbs require a ballast, so it is not as simple as just buying the bulbs... and if you went to pep boys you def would not be paying $20 for bulbs... i think the HID oem bulbs are closer to a hundred a piece if i remember right.

so to add HID/xenon highs... you need to purchase a complete HID kit, which will include x2 bulbs + x2 ballasts

the halogen bulbs that he linked you to won't look the exactly the same.. they will be a lot closer, but the difference in the brightness is going to be drastic. you can buy kits for under $50 easily... a lot of the people on the boards frown on the "cheaper" kits, but i have a kit in my civic i have had for the past 2-3yrs and not one problem and i payed less than $30

there is a diy for HID's stickied in this section

NorseWagon 09-10-2012 02:56 PM
