It is hard to find a BAD new car now. I have had MBs for over 25 years now, love them, and I must have the only W211 that has been quite reliable. But back to your comment... I love cars and I love driving my little Fiat, I just don't expect it to be like a Benz, seeing that the Fiat's new cost about what I had in options on my W211!

I bet he might like the Volt quite a bit, it is not the typical Chevy.

Oh, Steve, I didn't mean that in a bad way. I think you're right if you stay with the major brands (which, really? what manufacturers aren't besides some specialty manufacturers) you will really find quality cars. GM has made leaps and bounds in both quality and looks within the past 8 years alone because early 2000s vehicles from them were just horrible - and all of the ones prior after the petrol crisis. I would feel comfortable driving an American made car for sure, I'm sure he will like it I am just really curious what he will end up concluding.

Smart move, truly.

No problem, I did not take it in a bad way at all. I was just typing away... But I find it funny when people in the Fiat forum who trade in a beat up C-class for a Fiat say that they miss their Benz... then another member will actually say that Fiat is a step up from Mercedes and that they drive one. Everything is subjective and people tend to forget that.

I had a Malibu 4-cyl rental last summer and I was very impressed with it, I also had a Chrysler 200 and it was not bad either. They are perfectly boring cars :-).
