When my truck did this there was a relay failed in the PCM requiring a new PCM. The relays control the switching inside the transmission for shifting.
It may not be your pcm but some support part so you will need all the codes to determine where to look.

When you say your truck was it a Mercedes-Benz truck or you're just generally speaking and if it was a Mercedes truck was it a similar year with a similar transmission and what the cost to fix

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow down you have an MB transmission not a what ever---------your best course of action before all the BS is to get the transmission scanned to determing why it went into "limp mode"
However to do that you need someone with DAS Xentry diagnostic software or equal to be able to read the transmission module.
There is also an OBD code stored in the engine ECU alerting you to an issue with the transmission--that also has to be cleared!!

How much is a valve body repair and how much is a conductor plate repair and is this something that I'm better off having serviced at a transmission shop order Mercedes dealer?

Once again slow down-----you have an MB transmission with a conductor plate and on that conductor plate there are numerous removable shift solenoids-----one or more may not be functioning-----your issue is to find out which one is faulty and replace it----- not the conductor plate, however if the fault is because of a speed sensor which is built into the conductor plate---then you have to replace the conductor plate and clean and reuse your solinoids.
