For all these reasons I’m suspicious, he’scomputer says is the speeds sensor, he order the part, (260$) he check with a smallflashlight the ring, he told me is the ring not the sensor, but he never checkthe old sensor, (he return the new sensor) so I have to take one more appointment, 4h to change the ring, (he told me that)maybe after that I have to change the sensor also???

Your logic is faulty (HE'S LOGIC IS FAULTY) --an MB speed sensor costs about 150.00, not 260.00 he is ripping you off (WHAT I BELIVE) ----second to replace a speed sensor is cheaper that replacing a reluctor ring (I AGREE WITH YOU) ---why would you replace a reluctor ring before changing the speed sensor, which testing has proved to be bad---what is wrong with this picture???

First change mechanics to one who works on MB's (I WILL DO IT) and understands the systems!! You will live longer!! (I HOPE)

PS: You can do a continuity test to test the sensor---if you do not know what that is do a google search!!

thanks for your time, have a good one

Just take the car to another independent shop with DAS Xentry, have them test it, and get a quote. Sounds like someone is trying to make profit off of your little speed sensor issue. Maybe that included labor?

As I said in your other post............ It is hard to believe that the reluctor ring will go bad unless some type of work is been performed on the half shaft. It will take lots of road salt to damage it, but then you will also have damage to other parts in that hub if this is the case. I would say that you are better off if you get the whole half shaft, just to be on safe side and not having any future problems (like slipping ring because of worn shaft).
But like every one say: get second opinion. And don't abandon your old tread and starting new one to ask same old question just because I said something that 99% of the people reading it won't know what means, please.

So it was not that bad at all to go to the dealer, should do it in first place and not spending money on all those indy shops. Glad it is all over.
