I've had many cars but never a MB. I am thinking of buying an '08 e320 Bluetec with 55k miles (P2 pkg), clean carfax and autocheck. I normally do my own maintenance. I know it's out of warranty. It is being sold at a non-MB car dealer so the extended warranty (till Oct '15) will not be transferrable. As I understand, it would have to be a private sale in order for it to still be good.

Can you please can down through the list of maint it has had an see if anything sticks out? It looks like it has been serviced well will no major problems. The one thing I am noticing is 3 times wheel alignment was done... wonder if that is an issue with these cars?

An alignment isn't a one-time sort of deal where the car will be good forever after that. It's more of the general maintenance type where alignments should be done every 10k-20k miles or so depending on your driving situations. From the looks of it, 29k miles then 48k miles looks fine to me. Then another at 52k is fine again because the vehicle is up for sale and the dealer should be expected to perform an alignment.

 

^+1 I agree to me it looks like when they mounted new tires they did one and when they put the car up for sale.
So the car has CPO warranty right? My car had the normal extended warranty when I bought it and even though I bought it from a dealer a simple phone call to Mercedes 1800 number they transferred it to my name. This was back in like 2007-8 but it only took the woman 5 minutes so it would be worth a shot just say you bought the car from the previous owner and wanted to see if the cars warranty could be transferred!
