Poll: E-owners

Given the ups, downs, pluses and minuses of your E car:

If you had it to do all over again, would you buy a different car?

i say no because i dont think there is another car that has the same capabilities, the 5 isnt the best built car, although i really like the looks, quality sucks, GS is very old, and it isnt as luxurious as the E, plus the style of the E is better. Plus with the 500 you get the suspension, 340 torque, 4 zone a/c and all of the extra goodies that other companies dont offer like keylessgo, front and rear parktronic, and all of the little things that MB has, like the payed service, and small gizmos..

E-500
I would buy it again. I have had 2 different E-500's in the last year. The pre-nav and the replacement. I put over 18,000 miles on the first one and drove from Pacific Coast to Atlantic Coast and back and had no complaints. I only have a couple of thousand miles on the replacement.

We see a lot of stuff here...but if you really look at it there are only a few people who have a lot of trouble and much of that is caused by the service department at some dealers.

All in all....it is a fantastic car.

btw: Where is the poll?

I would definitely buy another E-500. I have also had two, a pre-Nav with all of the start up problems that I put 12,000 miles on and a post Nav that now has about 6,000 miles deliverd in August. I've had no problems with my latest E-500 and it has averaged over 20 mpg since new.

I looked at the new BMW's recently and much prefer my MB.

I think this car is amazing...i've driven plenty of bimmers and porsches, which do have better driving feel for performance, handling, etc, but nothing beats the smoothness and comfort of the new e. I can't even tell when the engine is running, and the car feels unbelievably smooth and quiet, even when accellerating hard. i've got 19s w/low pro performance tires on mine, and the ride was barely affected vs. the stock 16s while the grip improved significantly. The interior looks v. nice and the stereo sounds incredible. The touch shift is very nice for engine braking and downshifting on the highway (it selects the optimum gear) The brakes feel amazing, and i do feel a huge difference when driving cars with "normal" brakes. I love everything about this car...

Complaints: i've got the '03, and i have noticed that the car has a slight alignment problem (pulls to the right) that cannot be fixed and then there is all the interesting sounds that come from the engine whenever i first open the door to leave in the morning and the brakes make a wierd sound sometimes too...nothing major and you do get used to these things and barely notice them after a while. There were also some minor quality issues with the car when i first got it (small things that broke or malfunctioned, but were covered by the dealer) which was annoying bcs the car ended up being in service more often than i actually had it, but nothing has broke for a couple of months now (knock on wood) and everything is on the up and up.
