What to do with this 2007 E320 Bluetec
Hey everyone, I've got a 2007 E320 Bluetec Mercedes that has 224k miles on it. Recently, I replaced the turbo on it and now the engine feels brand new. The issue now is with the transmission. Last week, I noticed it was a little sluggish and it seemed like almost instantaneously, I lost everything past 4th gear and had to limp it into my mechanic here in Fort Worth.
Long story short, The car is still in the shop and it won't be driveable until it gets a new transmission or the existing one is rebuilt. I am thinking it's time to part ways with what has been a phenomenal car for so many years (I bought the car from a dealer who took delivery in Europe and only put about 5000 miles on it before selling it to me)
My question to everyone is this: should I part this car out or try and sell it as a project for someone? Is there anyone on here that would want to buy it? It really is a great vehicle, just in need of a new tranny.

2007 E320 Bluetec
Here are the specs on the car:
Black with Black leather
224K miles
Good tires with plenty of tread left
No issues other than a bad transmission and an O2 sensor code
Has been regularly serviced at a local independent mechanic who specializes in diesel benzes.
2nd owner, first owner was the owner of an MB dealership in Salt Lake City

you will probably make more money parting it out and selling the parts. its adds up to a lot. selling it as a whole you wouldn't get a lot of money for it.

How much will it cost to put in the cheapest transmission? That is if you can find a used one from a junkyard? I think you could probably get around 10-11k if the transmission worked, not sure what you'd get without it working. You should post it as a parts car and ask for best offer and if the offer is less than what you would get if the transmission worked, get the transmission fixed.

As much as I'd love to suggest a rebuilt tranny is they way to go to keep the diesel running - parting it out is probably the best course of action, assuming you have space and time to do it.
