2005 W211 E500
Car battery / Sensonic Brake Control
Good day.
*** BATTERY ****
I bought my used 2005 E500 W211 in August 2013.
I don't know when/whether the battery was changed.
After purchase, the battery has been mostly fine.
Probably twice in Hong Kong winter (> 5 degree Celsius)
it says "convenience features switched off ?to save battery"
*** Sensonic Brake Control ***
My friend's ?2003 W211 Sensonic brake failed in public holiday. Luckily, he said he has a few minutes' warning to stop the car,
before the car is locked for towage.
So, I am always afraid of the sensonic brakes
When I bought the 2005 car, it has the facelift horizontal stripe
LED external turn indicator/headlight.
So, I thought it's facelift, without the sensonic brakes. The second
hand dealer told me it's a facelift.
He lied. It is not facelift, and still have the sensonic brake
Is it stupid to replace it, if it ain't broke.
Or is it NOT stupid? I don't want to die from brake failure.
Question:
1 Do I routinely change the car battery? Both batteries?
2 Or, do I wait till there are more "low voltage" warning, and
then change?
3 Are there many owners who have the sensonic brakes working
well?
4 Are most sensonic brakes "ultimately" going to fail? Any average life span?
From your estimate, what percentage of sensonic brakes need replacement?
5 Would you "prophylactically/preventively" replace the brakes system?
Oh... I am not talking about brake pads.
I think I probably wouldn't replace the brakes system.
As I don't know if the new brakes may
bring problems, while the old ones would work.
Different to replacing batteries. I would think new batteries would just work, and extend the lifespan)
