07 E350 ew owner problems

Hello guys I just picked up a 07 e350 and I already have a CEL. Codes that come up are P2004 and P0016. I checked the little plastic piece in the front of the intake and the ball is not broken. Sorry as I don't know these engens yet so just looking for advice on what to look for. Thank you -Josh

I forgot to mention that the drivers side front of the engine has a tick. Almost sounds like lifter tick but it does it once it's warm.

Video of the noise would be very helpful as for your other issue check this out https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ld-broken.html

Check your engine number asap

BTW your engine is the m272

Thank you for the reply. Others have said to check engine number but I cannot find the site to plug in my vin. The only site I could find was in Russian.

See the link to the site on Post #5 in the following. It may be the same site.

Yea that's the same one. After plugging in my vin I don't get any numbers like a engine serial number. I tried Google translate and it won't translate any of it. VIN is WDBUF56X27A996003 if someone could translate that would be awesome.

After you enter the VIN and click on the button, you will see another button come up over to the right. That should call up your datacard. When I did it with your VIN, it came up with an engine number of 272964 30 405556.

However, please double-check me on that. Russian is not one of my skills...

P2004 since throttle lever seems fine check associated sensor b28/10 (right) if fine, may be flap inside intake manifold. Sensor value mentioned here

I came up with the same engine number. The balanced shaft issue scares the he'll out of me so I rolled the engine over to 305 and took these photos. As you can tell the circles are not perfectly in the center but I don't know how far off they can be.

OK I will see if the sensor is reading properly with a vacuum pump. Hopefully my torque pro app will let me see voltage readings.

Thank you guys so much.

The delivery date on your E350 is one day later than my E350, and the engine numbers are very close as well. Sort of interesting-how many miles on yours? I am at around 145,000.

bewbzout 06-23-2015 01:53 PM

I have 81,000 on mine.

I rolled the engine over to where i thought the marks were perfectly center and then looked at the crank and it looks like about 308*. That seems to me like acceptable but i dont know what the variance should be.

I wouldn't worry about the balance shaft until you get fault code 1200 or 1208. For your intake manifold, you can do the repair kit, but if your tumble flaps aren't broken then it probably needs a entire intake manifold. The pressure sensors never go bad and i mean never. There is a guided test for these intake manifold faults, you have to apply vacuum to the black capsules on the front of the manifold and that is how you decipher whats exactly going on. Just my two cents!

edit: I listened to your video, that sounds like a stretched chain to me. You could pull your cylinder covers off set timing to 40 until all the marks on your chain line up with your pulse wheels and go from there.

cmriv 06-23-2015 03:04 PM

You can't really tell if timing is off by the way you are doing it unless you don't see any of the engraving at all through the peep hole. Set timing and remove those cylinder head covers since you already have everything else off. Just make sure you have some sealant encase you need to button everything back up to drive it somewhere.

bewbzout 06-23-2015 03:58 PM

Will a chilton manual show how to time the cams like you suggested? Or is there any reference material that i can use help identify if i have a stretched chain? thank you -Josh

bewbzout 06-23-2015 04:20 PM

found this video with steps on timing chain replacement. Follow the link for a download of all the steps.

Im assuming if the chain is stretched then the marks on the cam and casting wont line up when the crank is at 40*?

Also i would also assume that this may be causing my P0016 code?

Thank you for all the help. -Josh

bewbzout 06-24-2015 12:40 PM

Can someone with a manual please post up how to check timing chain and how to replace chain and possibly guides. I have searched and only come up with other engines and not this particular engine. Thanks

bewbzout 06-25-2015 12:56 AM

So I still don't know how to physically check timing chain and or guides for problems but I did check the can timing. What do you think? To me the cam that the chain goes around (intake I believe), looks like the seam doesn't line up between the lines.
