Interior Fan On? - Not Residual Heat

Hi guys,

Every now and then when I go out into the garage and it is very quiet I can hear a fan running in the upper passenger side dash portion of the car. If I open and close the drivers door it stops.

The car is a 09 CDN E350 and it does have the Residual Heat Feature however, it is summer and the button has not been depressed on the dash. If I activate Residual Heat the fan speed would be much higher. Any ideas why the fan runs ultra low speed when the car is off now and then?

Does this car have an A/C Evap fan that operates ones the car has been shut off to dry out the evap system?

Thanks!!

It's amazing that you haven't run your battery down, additionally I don't see how you will be able to diagnose the open circuit without good diagnostic tools. However it sounds like an issue with the from SAM or is it an issue with the AC module, but once again an OBD scanner is useless in that case!!

If you had a CAN bus analyzer you could quickly find the circuit that is still awake!! Another if's

Only happens on occasion and the car usually has been driven recently....next time I'll keep going back to monitor and see if it eventually shuts off. I had been in the passenger seat prior playing with the radio and the key had been in the on position...came back about 15 min later and that is when I could hear the fan running very low.

I should mention that no air blows in the cabin, it sounds more like a circulation fan just above the cabin filter.

Read your owners manual. Normal operation. Something that has to do with your evaporator draining or something....

Thats your blower motor running. Not something to be worried about unless it constantly runs when the vehicle is off then you have something to worry about.

Thanks guys! I went thru the manual and my Shop Key subscription and could not find a thing!! Must be drying or circulating something

Upon further observation the fan runs from 15 to 45 min after the car has been turned off so it seems purposeful, love to know what it is really doing lol
