I tried to remove my upper control arm at the ball joint and the bolt snapped (It was frozen). I have seen many write ups on how you can replace the lower ball joint alone by pressing a new one in but have not seen any write ups on the upper? Can the upper ball joint alone be replaced or do I have to buy a new arm? Thanks

The upper ball joints on my E500 are held on the control arm by three bolts. Easily replaced. Yours may be different design. Check you tube for videos.

Mine are one solid piece (of course it cant be that easy lol). I do see on Ebay that they are selling the ones with the there bolts. I guess I have two questions now. Are the control arms sold on Ebay a direct updated replacement for mine? Can I press new ball joints into the upper to save money?

I figured it out. The one with the 3 bolts is a newer version that is a direct replacement.

I got both front upper control arms from buyautoparts.com for $100/pair on my e320. pretty easy fix.

I actually bought upper and lowers for both sides for $200 lol. Does anybody know what the torque specs are for them? I do not want to strip or snap any bolts. If not, where could I look? Thanks
