HELP! Instrument cluster. SOLVED!!!! 14-12-2015
 

Hi,

yesterday when trying to add fuel tank info to cluster (witch i did) some how i lost the automatic gear box shift info on both sides of Km info in bottom of the cluster. How can i get it back? Please help. I've tried several kinds of coding but none where successful. Thanks

EDIT: forgot to say that i have a w211 2004 car

Did you touch anything else than 'tankinfo im...' option? I believe there is options for selector display too, but I cannot see how they would have changed if you just put tank info visible and reset IC...

Well i touched a bunch of things but the selector display disapeared before i got to developper part and switched tankinfo. I'm a bit newbie in DAS/xentry so i'm trying to learn as much as i can. I think the slector display was gone after i "coded" the IC version, by default one of the menus shows not configured and you have to select version of IC, MY2003, 2004, 2005, etc. I tryed to recode with some of this versions (2006 included) and couldnt get selector display back. :(

Developer mode changes takes place usually after reset only, so your 'version' change may have done the reset automatically and default values are used. I'll check my star tomorrow in simulation mode if I find correct parameter/option. I think you need to go to developer mode now to change display... I saw you have thread 'in the dark side' forum too, they are pros using DAS and other tools...

Yes i have lol. hope u can help me. But latter on i'll at home again and i'll retry to fix too. One thing that i must do (we all should) it's to translate from germain to english. Dam germain is hard to understand :)

Have you tried all possible model years now? I think you must select correct MY in any way (see your car data card)... did you press default version coding under control unit adaptations - version coding? That may have changed something... I still don't get it why default would be no gear display :eek:

See what is your current status (sorry about english terms, Im using my own language and have to guess how they are translated in english) in factory diagnose - control adaptation - version coding - variantenkodierung werkseinstellungen - Vereinheitlichte Ganganzeige aktiv/passiv... at least that sounds it has something to do with gear display, just dont know what exactly 'unified' here means and what that option does...

Isn't there nobody that knows how? I've tried every possible configuration. Probably my DAS is missing some addons? It it 09/2014 DAS.

Problem SOLVED!
Just figure it out. It was a wrong programing of the ZGW (or CGW). The items that concerns to the transmition were wrongly coded, CONFORT transmition was existent when it should be INEXISTENT. Only AUTOMATIC TRANSMITION should be EXISTENT. After changed, the gear display pops up in the cluster (no need to reset KI). Somehow i must have changed the CGW coding the first time.

I have the same problem, but i haven't coded anything. They just turned off one day and never came back on

But coding may be still lost between different modules, should be checked via SDS... for example sometimes low voltage may interrupt proper loading of sofware, and coding in not fully ok...

Like in other post, also fault could be in gear selector module, TCU communication, KI, ZGW, EIS...

I'm guessing that a crap ecu could do it also? I've got the high speed fan thing going on along with no connection through the obd2

Sure, fan full speed means no enough voltage to ECU...

I did it for a lot of people. This is nothing you do with your Star Diagnosis though.

I have searched the web but nothing found.
I have tested
ID = 0x000 with 1 byte 0xFF.
These seems not right for ignition on ?????
