Sukh's build thread
Hey all,
My name is Sukh and I've been lurking for a while so I figured I'd start a build thread since I'm finally making some progress on my car. On July 25, 2015 I purchased my 2009 E350 4Matic from CarMax with their extended warranty. I traded my 2013 VW GTI which was pretty heavily modified (build thread here: http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showth...light=sskamboj) and had always wanted a white w211 spec'd like mine so when I saw it I had to jump on it. I know its no AMG but that's a good thing for me haha. It had 62k miles at the time of purchase and now has almost 72k. I've enjoyed the car very much till now and it keeps getting better as I make it my own. I'm making this thread more for tracking than anything else and to post some cool photos that are taken. Haven't done much to the car so far but here what has been done: Maintanence to date: - Oil change x2 - Air Filters (AFE Drop-ins) - Spark plugs - Transfer Case Fluid - Transmission Fluid - Front and Rear Differential Fluid - Front Passenger Lower Control Arm Bushing - Upper Idler Pulley - Thermostat - Intake Manifold **Half of that was covered under warranty which was nice. Modifications: - H&R Sport Springs - H&R 20mm rear spacers - 42 Draft Design 15mm front spacers - Morimoto 6000k HID Fog Lights - LED Headlights (soon to be replaced with Morimoto HID kit) - DeAutoKey Interior Dome LEDs - AZN Optics Interior Door Puddle, Footwell LEDs, License Plate LEDs, and City Light LEDs - E55 AMG Rear Mufflers - Paint matched AMG style rear trunk lip spoiler - Magnaflow Tru-X X-pipe in place of center resonator Wish List: - Color matched front side markers - Avant Garde M590 in a 19x9.5 et40 square setup - Gloss Black Roof Wrap - Gloss Black Roof Spoiler - Aero Function Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler - Eurocharged Performance ECU Tune - Custom Front and Side Diffusors That about does it, this car will be a simple build and will probably be finished by this summer. The idea being not go too crazy like I did with my GTI lol. But anyways, I look forward to getting to know you guys. I've already been lurking and have learned a lot already so I'm pretty excited to progress even further. By the way this is my first AWD car and the 4Matic is awesome in the snow. I was really surprised that with ESP off it let me play a little too, quite addicting if I may add. Very happy with overall inclement weather performance with the tires I put on it. Anyways, on to pictures.. and mods please move if this is in the wrong place, I didn't see a member rides section so I apologize in advance. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1502/...96292d99_k.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1470/...642328b7_k.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1599/...7f537f5c_k.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1458/...64fa3e5f_k.jpg https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1617/...975eca03_k.jpg |

hey all, I actually have a question. I'm about to pull the trigger on the wheels and tires in the following spec:
19x9.5 et40 all around 245/35/19 all around I've gone through the wheel and tire thread as well as seen GunMoto's square setup as well but I'm trying to gauge how big of a spacer I'll need front and rear so I can just buy the spacers and new bolts all at once. I have 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers on currently so my thought is I'll be able to use the 15 in the rear and just get new bolts and ill probably need to get another 5 or 10mm up front. Has anyone run sizes like that or can help me confirm what I'm thinking? |

They are legit and customer service is great! btw-your car looks super clean!:y |
Your car is looking awesome man! Just need to fill in those front license plate holes and you're good to go. I'm not so sure about a 9.5 et 40 up front. But I've had 19x9 et 38 with 245/35/19 all around and didn't have a single problem on my rwd.

"Son, Dad can i borrow the car"!
"Dad, sure son"! "Son, The Mercedes? " "Dad" HELL NO" Nice car! |

I also didn't think about doing the custom offset thing. In that case I'm going to go with the CLS fitment and do 19x8.5 et 25 up front and a 19x9.5 et25 rear with a 245/275 staggered tire setup. See, this is why I need you guys lol.

Dude, whom ever is driving that ride needs some parking lessons, or better yet some curb finders! You know like the wiring jimmies you put under the fenders.

@sskamboj I can't seem get enough of those rolling shot pictures. I think it would totally look more badass with clear side markers and 6000k HID fogs. |

I'm heading to a muffler shop shortly to discuss swapping the resonator for an xpipe and might be pulling the trigger on a Carlsson style carbon fiber trunk spoiler too. I keep discovering more every day! |
Very clean car. I love the rolling shots too. I agree totally about getting the custom offset built. My wheels are 25 up front and 35 in the rear and they sit perfect. Good luck just stopping where your wish list ends. When I bought mine last year I intended on just a drop and wheels to look clean and I just ended up starting to assemble my kit to put mine on air.

appreciate the kind words! haha I definitely agree that the wish list will keep growing, I went through the same thing with my GTI. I wish I could get this car on air, but nobody really supports the 4Matic with either air or coilover setups. It kinda blows.

Yea I've actually seen his cars on IG. I had some brief conversations with the guys over at Boden Autohaus in CA and they said they can source some HPDriveTech air struts for my car but that's $$$. I'm trying my hardest not to go too crazy with this car lol.

Where did you get your spacers?
I like the stock wheels and that drop. |
with the e55 amg mufflers installed does it sound and different? I'm thinking of buying some and putting them on my e350 as well.

E55 mufflers are by far the quietest AMG mufflers out there, I'd suggest c63 or e63 before pulling the trigger on the e55 ones.

hey guys,
@a100steaksauce, my rear spacers are from H&R and the fronts are from 42 Draft Designs. I had some problems with the fronts I got from H&R which is why I went with 42DD. If i had to do it all again, I'd go 42DD right from the start. Great company to work with and great pricing. @w211Kilo, the E55 mufflers did generate a slight change in tone, but nothing too crazy. I didn't want to go with C63 mufflers because of how'd they make the V6 sound vs. a V8 550 or AMG. This weekend I also had the big center resonator chopped and replaced it with a Magnaflow Tru-X x-pipe. Definitely created more noise, a nice tone, without it being over the top. I don't want this car to be as loud as my previous ones but it definitely has the balls it needed now sound-wise. I will be recording a sound clip with my camera tonight so it's good quality and will post a link shortly after! |
