Thumbs down No W211 at NY Auto Show?

I rushed to the NY Auto show today, eager to see the new E-class. None there! And they wouldn't even open the hood to the SL55...

Where is the W211 going to debut in the US, or will it just appear in the dealerships?

Not surprising, it would have taken some of the spotlight away from the SL....but I think the W211 should have been there since its going to be out (at least from what we hear) before any 2003 Autoshow.

I am going Monday as well...dropping of the ML for some service work...then off to Javits...seems really an oversight not to have the W211 there...How about the GST Concept???...

Angry VERY UPSET

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS AUTO SHOW FOR MONTHS NOW. I WANTED TO SEE THE NEW E CLASS AS WELL AS THE NEW CLK. BUT FROM THE POST OF OTHER MEMBERS I SEE THE CARS WILL NOT BE THERE. I WANTED TO SEE THE NEW CLK UP CLOSE BECAUSE I AM STILL NOT 100 PERCENT SURE ABOUT IT. I WILL NOT PUT A DOWN PAYMENT ON A CAR I HAVE NOT SEEN IN PERSON. I AM GOING TOMORROW TO THE SHOW. AND ALSO AGAIN NEXT SATURDAY. I HOPE THERE ARE THINGS TO KEEP ME INTERESTED.

I went to the show on Sunday - it was ok, nothing really that exciting. Mercedes' main showpieces were the new SL and the Vision GST. The SL55 and GST were on display, and there was an SL500 for people to sit in and see. They also had an S600 and a few others for people to check out, and around 4 or 5 ML's and a couple G's in the Trucks section.

I agree with Belfed that showing the new E would steal some thunder from the new SL, but they could have made a really good (and big) presentation of the new E, SL, CLK, and the GST all in one.

The rest of the show was ok, again nothing really that exciting and new (except maybe the SL).

Thanks,

mbakshi
