Anyone facing issues with HID kit constantly going out ??

I have a Morimoto Elite HID kit on my E55 and my passenger light went out about 2 months ago. I checked it out and turns out it was the ballast and not the light bulb. I had it replaced under warranty and I ended up buying another ballast for the driver side for extra insurance that they will last me a long time.

Now today the passenger side went out again and I checked the light bulb and its fine. Its not blown and it did not turn violet before it went out like most bulbs when they are dying. I then turned off the headlights and turned them back on the the light came on but went out after a few seconds. Now the ballast is brand new so it shouldnt be that.

At this point I dont know what it could be. I do have the CANBUS error code eliminators and I dont think those can go out but I could be wrong.

Anyone having similar problems ?

I just replaced my HID with Morimoto HID's because of similar instances with the right (passenger) side lamp not lighting at times. Because I could not figure out the H7 retainer at the time for the new bulbs, I left the existing HID bulbs in place and to date (only one month), they have been working flawlessly. With the old HID, at times, it would take up to a minute to light the HID, other times, it may not light at all (which I then got the bulb out icon on the dash).

Bumpin this thread as I still got issues.

I replaced the front HID kit with the new Morimoto kit as previously said and I still have the problem. Sometimes I can be just driving and it goes off. I tried everything at this point, I got a new Morimoto CANBUS eliminator and nothing. Its pretty frustrating and I was wondering if maybe someone here had been through a similar situation and that the solution might have been.

The driver side has been rock solid ever since I installed my first HID kit, it has never given me any problems at all.

swap ballast's side to side. If it's still out, you need a driver side front SAM....

It powers things up and sends and receives signals. its like a mini circuit board with fuses
and relays.

You should really do some continuity tests before pulling the trigger on a new one. Check for + and - at connector. Then check to see if module is sending any type of signal to that headlight. You'll need a wiring diagram. Located by brake fluid reservoir. There is a cover, covering it with two slide tabs.....

THE C350
i am wondering if the error cancelers and the car are not playing nice causing power issues going to the ballasts? If you have access to someone with a diagnostic computer you could set the Xeon to present setting and should be able to eliminate the cancelers.
I have tested a few hid kits with no cancelers and had no issues as well as my Matsu****a ballasts that I currently use just by changing that setting.

Do I just check voltage at the headlight plug or check at the fuse?

I looked up the SAM and it looks like its fuse 7.5, on slot 66. Is that right?

I've had this problem with Morimoto kits on other vehicles. The problem has usually been the contact pins of the sockets that connect to the capsule ("bulb") itself. I have never had a Morimoto product fail me (except capsules due to age). The connectors I usually buy from TRS and for some reason the ones to the capsules are always the weak sauce - particularly the D2S type, but nothing that some needle nose pliers can't fix.

check for voltage at headlamp connector. If no voltage is present you need to check to make sure sam is sending voltage. which means you need to check voltage at sam after checking headlamp connector. you would need to remove sam and tap into power wire. did you 55 come factory with xenons?
