7 speed transmission rebuilt

BMW X5 4.8is
7 speed transmission rebuilt
So upon further inspection on my tranny, going back to whatever the shop found in the pan when they did the filter and fluid change, looks like The tranny is toast.
Low oil, metal shavings in the pan, etc
So I called up a mechanic who worked on my BMW's before and knew he does tranny rebuilds , and asked how much to fix mine.
He said 2300$ for the rebuild and that comes with 3 year or 30.000 miles warranty, whichever comes first.
Sounds tempting. The car has 70k miles, clean inside out, I'd hate to part it out or sell as is.
What do you guys think?
