Oil Change *paper filter*
Now here I am after my first service and she's looking very clean, especially for the solid 130,000 miles on it. I took it to my mechanic but I feel as though Mercedes' is out of his usual line-up so here comes the question. I am almost certain he replaced the oil filter with a paper one and added 5w40 full synthetic. I did some research and have been seeing that paper is a NO-NO and that the oil used should've probably been 0w40.
Why is paper a no-no and should I have it changed asap especially with 130k on the clock?
Is the difference that huge between 5w40 and 0w40?
I have noticed some decreased gas mileage

Paper filters don't hold the 13,000 miles change intervals that is why fleece filters are recommended.
Now that you have fresh oil you might as well use it.
I would just do next oil change in 7000 miles and not wait for FSS to show it farther.

5w40 oil is fine. I use 5w40 in my E63 and 5w30 in my E500. If the oil meets the Mercedes spec then its fine.
