"He's dead, Jim".
11 years, 104,000 miles. Inspection tech turned on the headlight switch and I didn't notice. Parked the car, came back 10 hours later and...the original factory battery was beyond resuscitation. I even asked Dr. McCoy for his opinion multiple times but the battery was beyond hope. Thank goodness for 20% off coupon on this Memorial Day weekend!

I've been driving the W210 for a few weeks and it *always* tells me to turn off the lights even though the switch is "off" (they activate for 1-minute after the driver's door is opened to exit); I've been conditioned to ignore the warning because it always activates. This bit me in the butt in the W211. On the bright side, I was planning on a preemptive replacement of the battery this fall; doing so now I got a 20% off coupon. :zoom: |
11 years is still not bad, especially when you listen to other members from Texas, who claim the heat is battery killer.
That was not AGM battery, was it? On W211 I like to set it on auto lights mode. We drive via tunnel occasionally and it is pretty convenient. I can make whole list how many times in our long marriage I had to go to wife car park at shopping mall with dead battery. |
