Just bought my first MB - 07 E350 4matic

I have been looking into buying a E class for a while, and two weeks ago stumbled on a one owner 48k miles E-350 4-Matic that was fully loaded (panoramic roof, surround sound, remote start, wood wheel, nav, etc.). Price was $13k without taxes and fees. Additionally it was the exact color combo that I would have myself purchased (white on black)

After some VIN number searches (nobody wants a 5-6k engine repair lol), MB indy shop inspection reported no issues, clean Carfax.

The elderly couple who owned the car since purchase drove it 4-5k miles a year, always garaged. Car doesn't have a single scratch inside or out - is is as perfect of a condition as a 10 y/o car can be.

I am beyond excited, especially since this car is fully loaded and I am able to enjoy all of these luxuries for such a low price. I got the car yesterday evening at 9 PM and ended up driving it for 3 hours around the empty streets in Maryland.

It is worth to note that I have quite an extensive set of mechanical tools and DIY experience, and plan on addressing a lot of the upcoming maintenance myself. I also have spent an ungodly amount of research on this model and am well aware of common issues that come up (thus i bought a 2007+ model and with an engine that doesn't have the balance shaft issue). This weekend will be an oil test kit, oil change, air filter change and learning what all the damn buttons in this car do

Anyway, wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone (also possibly because I wanted to share the awesome deal ). Cheers to you all who take the time to write out all of your problems, solutions and useful insight.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, more will be taken this weekend after some detailing on my part

Good looking car. The 2007 to 2009 w211 mercedes with the dual exhaust like your's is my favorite body style E class. I don't care for the w213 style.

Welcome.

Everyone likes to use that term fully loaded, but to me that means all the options and very few if any have them. Did you get P2? That's keyless go with the bixenons. I don't think you have parktronic as I don't see the sensors on the bumper. Mine is almost fully loaded, but I'm missing the side blinds and the wood steering wheel. Got real leather, power trunk closer and folding rear seats in addition to P2. Hope you got the ipod cable and bluetooth puck in the center console also.

Anyway, if you're doing a bunch of stuff, consider the cabin filter also along with bleeding the brakes if they haven't been done in the past 2 years.

Oh and the dual exhaust is the sport package, the luxury package had them hidden by the bumper.

Congratulations - great find! I just bought an 08 E350 Sport (non-4matic) in October with 89k on it. And I was looking for the panoramic roof with auto-start and couldn't - so I ended up settling for a car without either, but it was meticulously maintained and in near mint condition.

Just out of curiosity, how did you verify if yours could potentially have the balance shaft issues?

Thanks!

Good point about the fully loaded. After some further research, this is what I have:

4-Matic - Yes
Navigation - Yes
Heated seats - Yes
Ventilated seats - No
Keyless go - Yes
Bi-Xexon headlights - Yes
Headlamp washers - Yes
Adjustable air suspension - No
Power trunk closer - Yes
Parktronic - No
Distronic - No
Moonroof - No
Harman-Kardon sound system - Yes
In-dash 6 disc changer - Yes
Rear window sunshade - Yes
Tire pressure monitoring system - Yes
Two-tone leather interior - No
Dynamic seats - Yes
Panoramic roof - Yes
Wood Wheel - Yes
Hands-free Comm. - Yes
Bluetooth - Yes
Satellite Radio - Yes

I made this list based of forum searches and the MB 2007 E-Class brochure. Looks like everything else is standard for all w211's regardless of engine choice.

I am glad I don't have real leather, since I bought a 10 year old car and MB-Tex doesn't have even a single wrinkle in it. That was not the case with a few of the e350/e500's I saw that had the leather option. I certainly would have appreciated park/dist tronic options. However the car is designed well and has outstanding visibility in all directions (especially felt with the panoramic roof open). Very glad I don't have the airmatic suspension as I am sure there is a suspension change needed coming in the next few years, and airmatic would've ripped me a new one in terms of parts and labor.

Homeofstone, I agree - the w211 facelifted model is my favorite as well. E63 would be my absolute favorite, but I am not interested in owning a 10 y/o AMG and the costs associated with it at this point

CentralFLBenz, thanks!

CompuRIP, this link should give you all the information you need and has a great VIN finder tool to help you make sure your car isn't affected. As far as the remote start/panoramic roof are concerned - they are cool and I appreciate them, but they just happened to come on the best priced, best serviced and best maintained vehicle I could find. If it comes to choosing, you made the right choice going for the well kept car.

I like to use Motor Trend's site to see what features/options were available for that particular year.

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/merce.../e-class/2007/

As for a vin decoder, this is a good one, tells you what options the car has, most used car dealers have no idea what options are standard.

$132 sounds like a lot to replace a drive belt. That's a 15 minute job, even for me. $30 for a belt, are they charging a full hour for that?

Lots of the other stuff you can do yourself. Transmission fluid change, diff fluid, etc. Air filter box replacement? Is it broken? Just find a good used one, it take 10 minutes to swap out.

You'd be better off driving that for a few years to recoup your investment, once all that stuff is done you should be good for a few years of low maintenance driving. Ours needed a bunch of work when we bought it, some I knew, some surprised me. But once we got through that it's been great.

Nav issue

So I took the e350 w211 out Sunday night. All good. Today I started it up for the first time since then and the Nav says unavailable. It worked fine Sunday. When I first started the car the radio screen was white (usually blue). I pulled fuses for radio and nav. Left them out for 30 mins. Put them back in. Radio returned to the blue color but no Nav. It wont let me pop the DVD out so I'm assuming no power. Any other tricks to resetting it? I cant figure out how to pull the nav unit out to unplug it and plug it back in to see if that helps. HELP!

Did not know there were so many options! Mine just has the AMG styling package with dual exhaust. I do not have the center console music goodies or the wood steering wheel or parking sensors.

I wish I could learn how to do the cabin filter, will have to search a bit.

to OP: great car, what a nice late model w211, just like mine

Inorder to pull the Comand system, the front decoration trim has to be pulled. Does it power on at all? There is a reset option under system to wipe everything. Did you get any warranty for the electronics? The command system is a bit slow but so far it is a great system I am starting to learn (if it works I assume)
