2006 E320 CDI intermittent dead pedal
Hey guys last night my 06 CDI started acting weird. I went to get on it coming up a hill and put the pedal to the floor and nothing. Filled the fuel tank up and planned on going home to change the fuel filter. When I hopped back in and took off it was back to its old self (has a fairly hot tune so it goes good.) thinking maybe a dirty EGR valve I hammered on it pretty good a few times to well over 100 and every time there was less smoke. Ran better than ever until just now when I'd did the same thing and threw a code. Stopped at advance to scan it which would not connect and then got back in and took off and now it's running fine again. Car has been properly maintained since at least 83k miles on it (I know previous owner well) and has 109k on it now. I'm gonna change the fuel filter anyhow but not thinking that's it as it's intermittent. Do you guys think I'm on the right track with thinking I should take the EGR off and give it a thorough douching?

Codes would be helpful in the diagnosis, but a faulty accelerator pedal is not uncommon in these cars. There are 2 circuits that read how far the pedal is being pushed, and the circuits are built into the top of the pedal assembly.
