temperature 60 degrees celcius

temperature 60 degrees celcius

is it normal if the running temperature is 60 degrees celcius ??
in traffic it goes 80 degrees

No, verify it with other thermometer, but most likely you thermostat is stuck open.
My 2008 no longer has thermostat, but computer-operated electrovalve.
That adds to troubleshooting and cost as well.

It's a common problem. I replaced mine with a Wahler thermostat which is OEM for MB. It's pretty much identical except for one spot that would have the MB logo and that's scratched out. I also replaced the pulley, belt and tensioner while I was it it because one of the pulleys has to come off anyway to replace the thermostat and those are also known to go. Gas mileage also improved slightly after I did it.

Just changed it but it seemed ok, it should be open if damaged??
It had 2 springs and 2 caps, both seemed opened.
The surface was clean and smooth everywhere
I am skeptic if it was damaged

I have tried the car now on the highway
now it is 90 degrees all the time
