rain x washer fluid shooting over roof

Hi all. 2008 E-350 4matic. I purchased the car from a dealer a year ago. The windshield washer fluid used to come out as foam, and would hit the windshield perfect. That all changed as soon as I added rain x washer fluid to the reservoir. As soon as I added the rain x washer fluid, it started shooting over the roof. I've searched and searched and have not found a direct answer on if I have to buy a concentrate, mercedes concentrate, etc...I just want it to foam again like it did when I bought it. Thanks.

Do any of you guys actually use the MB stuff? If so, how does it compare to what's commercially available?

cmriv 03-22-2017 06:42 PM

MB soap is legit. Deff makes a diff.

Why would you not just adjust the nozzles accordingly, so they will hit the windshield?
Use a needle, stick it gently in the nozzle and adjust it to the setting of your liking?

Simple enough, ......... and for sure much cheaper.

I've always perform this on all cars I've owned, maybe op is talking bout something else /:

Maybe the foam partially clogged the nozzle and that's why it's shooting to the roof, clean with a needle.

S70Houston 03-25-2017 08:51 PM

The ONLY way to do it!!!!!!!!!

Why spend additional monies on MB Washer Fluid, .... really?????

mtrevelino 03-25-2017 08:55 PM

I use MB washer fluid and distilled water. I never had a clogged nozzle, ever. My cdi is going on 11 years old.

And you really think it is the MB fluid that keeps it from getting clogged?

Guess I am spoiled in CA and the roads don't get as messy as elsewhere, just regular water mixed with a tiny bit of dish soap has been doing the trick for me for many years. A lot cheaper than MB fluid and always available. :)

Not saying adjusting nozzle isn't going to help, however MB washer fluid is extremely flammable. And the soap has some extreme additives as well. So doing all three would be the best option but dealerships and MB products aren't for everyone's wallet.

^^^ THIS - As it is not necessary. Other products work just as well and do not have a hefty price tag.

But hey, to each their own!

Yeah, mine works fine with a gallon of windshield washer fluid good to -20F from Walmart for $1.58 a gallon.

Was about to say the same thing. Been using the $1.50 stuff from Walmart now for years on all of our cars. Zero issues. Hell most of the time a bottle lasts almost two years. I wax the windshield, I can count normally on both hands how many times the windshield wipers are used each year. The wiper blades normally dry rot before they are actually worn from using them on the windshield...lol

The soap bottle is like 3 table spoons, doesn't compare to gallons so i'm sure there is a reason for the price of the soap. But don't get it twisted. There are different types of WW fluid and different formulas. That's why prices vary. Look at the specs of the different fluids first, then bash.

I'm curious as to how people own mercedes and have the audacity to complain about prices in regards to fluids or parts. Guess being the first automible EVER in the world isn't enough haha. Then again, when has anything ever been inexpensive on Euro vehicles? hmmm

Gotta pay to play!

What am I missing here? I do not recall anyone "Complaining" about prices. It was simply stated that paying too much is not necessary, as the cheaper stuff will work just as good.

But I just realized, ......... you are the guy referring to the Germans as N*zis and you have still not apologized for this uncalled for comment.

Yeah, you are correct, I should THINK AGAIN, as I am not sure what I was thinking when I was hoping one could reason with you.
You should continue to purchase expensive fluids, and drive your Honda as a daily driver because you cannot afford to drive your Benz every day, the washer fluid may become to costly over time, ......

You are something else!

cMazara 03-29-2017 11:24 PM

I happen to be a cheap ass complaining about everything because I'm not working at the moment, but I do love my benz and wouldn't change it for nothing :D

I see 85% percent of the people here are looking for cheaper ways to do things, if not everyone would take the cars to the dealer and that's it...

dang you are still bent out of shape about that?
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
SORRY
If i got offended like you did every time someone joked about my dark skin color OR me being black I'd probably be just as petty as you, it's justifiable though for you. Skin made out of tissue paper.....

Clearly you didn't just realize as my comment a few weeks back still has you feeling some sort of way for you to bring it up weeks later. I didn't even quote you in my last response and you took the initiative again to feel as though it was directed at you. Loosen up! And i agree majority of people on here are looking for cheaper ways to do things, more power to them. But in accordance with that you also see alot of bitterness towards the COST of owning mercedes and it's baffling at times.

On another note I haven't purchased washer fluid in 5 years unlike you cause i work at a benz dealer :zoom::zoom::zoom::y:y:y:y:D:D:D:D:p::p::p::p::p:: rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:. Also unlike you my 211 has 8 cylinders and actually is my daily since the weather isn't so bad. The honda don't run ATM so chill with talking about my first love.

now gimmie a second to get in my 550 and pretend it was built in 2002 and obtains a E320 badge :naughty:

think again
