Why do I have a 2" hitch receiver but can't find any info for one?
Been searching and searching. Can't find a da*n thing about my hitch. I have a 2006 E350 4Matic Wagon bought used. There is a 2" hitch receiver but no safety chain hooks, no markings for weight rating etc. Driving me nuts. Everything I have found is someone trying to sell me a 1-1/4 in receiver or people saying it can't be done. Please someone chime in here. Its already done I just want to know rating. Thank you.

Knowing the country and state/province would allow us to give you correct answer and laws change drastically between them.
My first guess is you have homemade receiver, but adding picture would help as well.

Looks pretty strong ( I at least "used to" be a welder) but it has to be homemade.
When in Europe those cars can tow 2.5 tons (metric) - they have different hitches.
2" receiver is strictly American invention, but on other hand, those cars are rated only for 1500lb towing in this country, so no US manufacturer can make hitch that require 2" receiver.
Bottom line - use at your own risk.

Well wired up the lighting for the trailer and drilled some safety chain attachment holes. Towed the boat about 15 miles round trip launched and retreived the boat at the lake. Forgot the boat was there a few times. Car pulled wonderfully. Boat, motor and trailer with gear around 2300lbs. Tongue is weight 180lbs. I'm happy get way better mileage in the car than my 454 4mpg truck. Thank you all for your input.

Good deal, just stay away from trouble as the law can catch you on overloading, so don't give them any excuse to pull you over.
