Popping noise from rear when braking
This happens in the first few minutes of driving, but after a few brake applications the problem goes away for the rest of the trip, and even after leaving the car parked for a half hour it doesn't come back. It's usually the first trip of the day, or the first trip after several hours of being parked, where the brakes have fully cooled. I don't drive the car every day, but when I do drive it I make sure to get it up to temperature each trip.
The fact that the sound is only heard during braking and goes away after a while, and not while driving or going over bumps makes me think that it's something in the braking system as opposed to the suspension or driveline? FYI both rear springs and spring insulators are new, genuine MB parts replaced by my dealer. The suspension was inspected (car didn't want to align - turned out the ride height was off because of a broken spring) and they didn't mention any other suspension issues at the time.
Has anyone else heard a similar noise and fixed the problem?
