Is there a consensus "best year"?

The '05-'06 E320 CDI's in the US are identical mechanically. There are some minor differences, but that's about it. They're great cars!

Mine is 11 years old and I have owned it for 6 years. Other than filters, belts, tires, wipers, and 2 batteries...I have replaced 1 glow plug, thermostat, 13 pin tranny connector and just replaced brake pads/rotors 2 weeks ago at 90,000 miles.


Last week I drove the Toledo/Indianapolis/Chicago/Toledo triangle...762 miles on less than 1 tank, about 38.1 mpg. Ran the distance at 73/74 mph.


Never had a better car
