do I need a new belt tensioner?

Hi. I just replaced the idler pulley because it was making noise. While going to remove the belt I noticed that the belt was off center and towards the end of the pulley on the belt tensioner, and actually slightly hanging over the edge of the pulley. When I put the belt back on, I centered it, ran the car for a minute or two, and I noticed the belt went back to where it was when I took it off. Does this mean it is going bad? Should I replace the belt tensioner? Thanks. M

I just get this kit whenever the idler goes. Seems like once one goes, the other ones aren't too far behind. About $122 at rockauto and that includes all the pulleys and belt. As you already have a couple you could get the individual parts. Look on retailmenot.com for the 5% off code, that sorta takes care of the shipping charge. Also I believe there's a washer behind one of the pulleys but not the other.
