E500 motor mounts -- Easy!
I have a 2005 E500 Wagon with 4matic, Airmatic, Automatic, and (too often) problematic. After replacing a front strut and both front drive axles, new upper control arms, and other front end parts, I had a noticeable vibration when stopped. I took the car to the dealer for a 4 wheel alignment and also have my front end work checked by someone who is supposed to know what the front end is supposed to be. He confirmed my suspicion that I need new motor mounts, and as the dealer wanted $1400 to do the job, I decided to do it myself. Here are some pictures and notes on how I did it.
I read several threads indicating the need to remove major parts like the alternator or exhaust, but almost all of these threads are for other than the 5.0L V8. When I replaced the front strut, I noticed the motor mount looks totally accessible via the wheel well:
After removing the plastic inner fender, the motor mount is tantalizingly close:
The top bolt to the motor mount also seemed accessible and did not require tools other than a 16mm socket and a couple of extensions:
I loosened both sides, removed the bolts from the bottom, and used a floor jack and 2x4 to raise the engine enough to get the mount out:
I then slid the new motor mount into place making sure the key on the mount aligns with the slot in the bracket:
The other side is pretty much the same. On the right side, I had broken the plastic bracket that holds a bundle of wires, so it was easy to push them out of the way. On the left side, I tried to pry the bracket free, but also managed to break it. There is a convenient slot to use a zip tie to support the bundle even with a broken bracket.
I would say the total job took me a couple of hours. If I were to do it again, it would go faster. I used Lemforder motor mounts purchased for ~ $75 each. There are cheaper ones and more expensive ones. I was advised to use authentic MB replacement mounts on the E500, but I could not bring myself to pay the extra. The good news is that if these should not last, they are easy to replace!

My right side E500 4-Matic motor mount was complete toast. It's aluminum base casting had literally in corroded into pieces. I was able to replace the motor mount without having to remove the inner fender well. I just loosened a few screws on the plastic shroud in the area and was able to pull the shroud away to clear a passage for the mount. Not a bad job at all if you have enough ratchet extensions. Thanks again for the photos
Lemforder part number 26082 01 (220-240-30-17) Engine Mount ( same part number for either side)

What's the vin number? You should be able to look up the parts in EPC and get the right part number. Sometimes FCPeuro is off, I've found that sometimes they don't list the correct application for the part. As long as it cross references to the correct part number, you should be fine.

This is what I have for mine from FCP but it does say it doesn't fit which is weird. Yours should be the same.

My only other suggestion is to get the bolts from Mercedes. One of mine was missing and the other was sheered off. Managed to pick up bolts and washers at a hardware store, but the washer was flimsy compared to the Mercedes one. At least it was easy to swap the bottom bolts afterwards.
