Car won't start. First start in 10 years.
So as the tittle suggests, I am trying to get my dad 2003 W211 E200k started. It has been sitting for 10 years and it has pained me to see it like that. It was properly covered and only has 40k miles on the clock.
I have already checked the engine, lubed the cylinders and checked it turns by hand. I replaced all the oil, oil filter, and even opened to fuel sender to change the fuel filter after draining all the old fuel.
It cranks! The engine cranks, really smooth too. My only problem is it wont start!!! I have come to the conclusion after investigating, that the engine is not getting fuel. After testing the connections on the pump, I found the pump is not getting power.
I checked the fuse and the relay, both are fine. So I'm not too sure what it could be. On top of all the, the key fob (new batteries) doesn't unlock the car remotely and if opened by the key, the alarm doesn't sound.
To sum it up:
- Cranks but wont start
- Fuel pump not getting power
- Key fob doesn't unlock remotely
- Red Visit workshop light showing a battery (Presumably just the auxiliary battery)
Any help is kindly appreciated. Please let me know your thoughts!
Added some pictures of the car, looks wonderful when she is clean.
Check for spark with a timing light.
Check for codes with a code reader.
Is the fuel you're trying to burn also 10 years old? That may be your problem right there. Diesels can do that. Gasoline not so much.
Does the car fire up with a hit of ether in the intake?
