Trouble Finding Info On 2007 E320 CDI Bluetec
I have found a 2007 E320 bluetec diesel for sale and I am considering buying it. Of course being a car guy I went to research it and I am having a lot of difficultly. The 2004-2006 has a ton of information and it seems as though the euro models are different.
What I am looking to find out is how reliable are they and what are the common issues? I know that is car has a clunk in the front end when going over bumps.
Which engine is in this model? Inline 6 or v6? Is it the same as the sprinter engine of that year?

It is V6 and it is twin to Sprinters, ML and G class engines. Some attachments might be different, but the same block.
The only issue is weak oil cooler, what is cheap part, but very hard to get to. Check the car records if it has been replaced, or calculate for the replacement.
I call our 2008 Bluetec the first bad-*** diesel ever. Hard to keep the traction light from blinking.

The engine was great as far as power and fuel economy but all the electrical pollution equipment kept the gauge cluster lit up like a Christmas tree.
Are there any other issues I should look for? Does this model have airmatic? Are there coil springs in front with shocks or struts? Do the coil springs break? I know it has something going on with the front end. Does this model have that advanced braking system that stops working after so many cycles of use?
I have found it difficult to find information on this year e320 and would appreciate any insight.

This engine had DPF, but no AddBlue, so suppose less troubles.
No US diesel has airmatic and this year deleted SBC

oil cooler issue
I have the 07, bought in 2016 with 130k on it and between that and 140k it developed the oil cooler leak. I knew this and got an unbelievable price for the car. This WILL happen so plan on it: parts are $550 and per all the posts and Youtube videos I've looked at, it's about a 20 hour job. The 2006 E320 is a CDI, with a straight six with a pressurized fuel rail (the W210 was a straight six as well but with a mechanical fuel pump, great for waste veg oil setup).
The 07 E320 is a V6, badged as Bluetec but doesn't have the ADBLUE, the 08 and 09 have the ADBLUE setup.
If you are getting the car budget this repair. Also replace the EGR valve. I got mine OEM new from guys in Germany for $65. It goes from passenger side rear of the engine to the turbo charger inlet pipe. If this is shot, then you will get MAF codes and the MAF'S -there are 2- only come with the complete assembly that's over $650. You cannot buy just new MAF's for this car. Don't buy MAF's until you replace this!!
I have that same clunk on the passenger side when going over speed bumps. I think it's bushing failure on the lower control arm but will wait until summer to get under to look at it. I don't know which state you are in but you are always welcome to shoot me an email if you are trying to figure something out.

Thank you, your post has some excellent information!
My 2008 model year E320 BlueTec (manufactured 09/07) does not have Adblue - not sure when it was added?

Yes, there were some '08's with early '07 production dates that did not have Adblue. Also, if you are getting a rear end shudder when you accelerate hard from a complete stop then check the flex disks (1 front and 1 rear). If your car has over 100k then replace these, you do NOT want one of these to fail. It causes catastrophic damage. If these get replace and you still have the shudder then have the motor mounts replaced. I hope you are doing all this work yourself because you can save a lot of money with a garage and tools.

Thanks, I will check out the disks again when changing the AT fluid this spring - the car has around 150,000 highway miles and drives like new.
Did the disks on my W116 many years ago and these look somewhat similar as I recall.

I have a 2013 ML 350 Bluetec, purchased new with 137k on it. Always well maintained. The engine seized while the MB technician was test driving it after doing the AEM recall. MB is denying any responsibility.
