2005 e500 4matic
Couple questions ! I’m new to forum!
Hey guys so I bought a 05 e500 4matic a couple months ago, love love the car. Couple little things that are a problem but I slowly will deal with them.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE, I am new to forums I hope I am in the correct forum!
1. Brake visit workshop but when I start the car I can almost hear the brake booster making noise as if it’s like loading air lol, never owned a “nicer” car so maybe this is normal.
2. Very very rare, this happened once but the gas light will start blinking and the dash reads check gas cap, happened twice since i owned and when I restart car it goes away.
3. Injectors loud? I though it was the valvetrain and I was very upset but I got my handy stethoscope out and verified it’s injectors, wondering if this is normal,
4. another rare issue, while driving I’ll just hear a beep coming from the back seat, not sure wtf this is, I used to work on cars at a Jeep/dodge dealership so I will do all repairs myself, not paying MB for anything

1. Do you have a message "Brake Visit Workshop"? You will need DAS diagnostic to find the problem. The noise you are hearing is the hydraulic pump priming the system, it is normal, I think it happens every third braking action.
2. Could be the gas cap or some other component on the fuel system. Again DAS would help to see what was stored.
3. Loud injectors? First I hear about this. You are sure it's not the valve lifters? These cars are known to have noisy lifters.
4. You will have to be more specific or to investigate it further.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new purchase. I'm new to these cars as well as I have only had mine since last Thursday. I had the gas cap warning on one of my previous cars. I changed the gas cap and it went away. As for the valve train issue, it may just be loud oil lifters. Not the same engine, but my 2001 BMW 740I sounded like a diesel because of the oil lifters and because it had VANOS (BMW's variable valve timing). If it were me, I would add a can of seafoam 1k miles before you change the oil. That may remedy it. Another thing I did to quiet mine down was to use a heavier weight oil. I would double check with someone who knows the inner workings of the M113 prior to upping the weight though.

I wouldn't bother with Seafoam, I put it in the same class as snake oil. I also wouldn't switch to a heavier weight oil unless it has MB 229.5 certification. Usually most people run Mobil 1 0w40 or Castrol. Maybe the previous oil change was at a quick lube place that had 5w30 or 0w20 instead.

I agree with cetialpha5 about Seafoam. I would not use it. I serviced my daughter's CLK500 with the M113 engine while she had it. The M113 engine is silent while running at idle, absolutely. If you have clicking noise I would not suspect the injectors, unless a previous owner had them replaced with an aftermarket brand. Clicking noises can also come from a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. That can happen if there was any heads off work done or if aftermarket exhaust was installed. Idler pulley bearings can also cause a clicking noise when failure is imminent. Most clicking noises under the hood come from the lifters.
I suggest you change the oil using a MB BEVO approved 229.5 oil - Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro works well in most cases but Mobil 1 Formula M 5W-40 may make things a bit quieter if it is the lifters. There are many oils approved for your engine, the BEVO is the place to look for which ones, or just look for the words "Mercedes Benz Approval 229.5" on the oil container at your favorite supplier.
