During my airmatic to coilover conversion i took the front strut out and happened to be a brand new arnott strut with just a blown seal. Do you know what this would have cost a normal person at a shop? Less than what i paid for my entire conversion and now my car rides as smooth as airmatic and will out corner any airmatic. Give a true german muscle car some real legs to run on... Good luck though!!!

I have 03 e500 i was having airmatic trouble with so i decided to go the never have to worry again route.... Coilovers. I went with the 32 way adjustable bcracing BR series. And it handles amazing( 10 times better than airmatic), drives like being in comfort mode over bumps but its alot more of a drivers car. You can actually feel the road now and alot more agile. The entire conversion kit is 1000 and you have to get 08 e350 rear lower control arms. Our airmatic ones wont work. And for 2 is right around 1500. I got my car very low and set at 10 of 32 in my dampening adjustment. And still drives very smooth. And all for less than the non adjustable spring arnott kit. And for about the same as doing 2 front arnott airmatic struts which are either good or bad. One i took out was a brand new one... I tell everyone do ittttt. You wont regret it!!!!

2003 E500 Benz & 2015 BMW M235ix
After 186,000 my 2003 E500 rear air shocks finally failed when the vehicle would drop after only a few hours.........reliability not bad. For some work I'm using an independent MB shop that charges about half the cost at my local MB Dealer for repairs. For this repair, I decided to use the indy shop and they used OEM MB parts and cost for both rear shocks parts and labor only $1800. I'm sure that's what one shock to install would have cost at the dealer. Both of the front air shocks were replaced at the dealer some years ago, one at around 125k miles, the other around 150k miles, and I recall they cost about $1800 each. After replacing the rear ones, the ride is much firmer. Especially on long trips, we really enjoy the smooth ride. For sporty fun and around town, I use my recently purchased 2015 BMW M235ix coupe where you really feel the road, super cornering, but not the vehicle to use for a comfortable ride on long road trips, even in the comfort mode selection.
