Code 0306 2007 Mercedes E350 4 Matic
I have replaced all 6 coils with Bosh Coils the Plugs are new had the ECM checked and repaired . Once done the car would run good and rough Idle and I got the P0306 code again . We pulled the plug and it was wet . We moved the 6 plug to the #5 cylinder and the one in the #6 to number 5 and checked the codes and got the P0304 ,P0305 and P0306 because the plugs swapped from 6 was dirty . I later purchase fuel injectors and had the # 6 replaced and and #4 injectors . The #4 problem is not gone but we still have #6 code . Checked compression and its good . New Coils Spark Plugs ECM repaired Fuel injectors 4 & 6 replaced What is it that I may be over looking ? Still getting P0306 code on 2007 Mercedes E350 4 Matic When I drive the car and runs smooth until I sit at a light and it idles , thats when it idles rough again |
Do a cylinder leak down test.....
|
A compressor test was done and I was told it was good |
Why did you have the ECM "repaired"?
|
a compression test IS not the SAME thing as a cylinder leak down test.......
|
Ok , if there is a leak the problem is with that cylinder? |

recurring misfires on the 272 can be bad valve seats, so have the leakdown checked as mentioned. There were bulletins about cylinder head replacement but they are kinda vauge.

Took car to the local dealership and they checked the car out for me and told me that the 2 left side 02 sensors and the catalytic converter need to be replaced . That is option 1 or Option 2 move the left side 02 sensors to the right side and see if the catalytic convertor is bad on the left side . option 1 $2600.00 option 2 is $650.00 or option # 3 or purchase the O2 sensors and replace them myself .
I have had a bad an catalytic convertor and it would have turn the exhaust manifold cherry red and the car over heat but i'm not having that problem with this car. |
That's pretty far from the P0306 code which is a misfire.
This mentions a bunch of other possiblities: https://www.autocodes.com/p0306_mercedes-benz.html As for the converter, I'd replace the two upstream O2 sensors if you're going to replace anything, but it doesn't look like you have any codes to indicate it's bad. The O2 sensors aren't that cheap though, even the cheap ones on rockauto are over $50 and the Bosch ones are about $100 each. Shouldn't be that bad to replace, probably just an access issue getting at it with the O2 socket. |
I took the car home and it drove smooth just some misfire when I slowed down . I let it set for awhile to wait for O2 sensors to be delivered , well when I crank it up ESP pops up, I take it to have O2 sensors installed was told ESP hadn’t shown up but the misfire on 6 is still there. I drove car home sounds good until I’m a couple block away the dash flashes car almost cut off well with a block of home car cuts completely off but I’m able to get it home. Once in driveway ESP inoperative pops back up then something about speedtronic inoperative pops up and I could mash the gas pedal it was like it would hesitate to rev up. I read where I could turn the steering wheel hard left then hard right and that might help so I did it . Anyone have the ESP problem along with. Misfire? I looking at other vehicles and Benz is slowing coming off my list |
You probably need someone who can property diagnose it. One other possible causes on that list is an intake air leak in addition to poor compression. Driving a car with a misfire can end up frying the cats so don't wait too long.
Your ESP problem could be something else entirely. You should get yourself a good scanner that can do MB codes. That might figure out your ESP problem. That could give you a code that will tell you if you have a bad brake switch, steering angle sensor, wheel speed sensor, or bad yaw sensor. When ESP goes out, the cruise control goes out with it. The W211 seems to have more mechanical problems than the W212, over in that forum things seem to be better. I think 2007 still had some minor issues left from the face lift, 2008 and 2009 models seem better but of course all of them have issues with the intake manifold. |
