my radio froze up
 

My '03 E is 17 mos. old. At about 4 months of ownership the cd changer suddenly froze and had to be fixed but I had no problems since. Yesterday, a similar problem with the message, "cannot establish contact..." occured and it failed to respond. I turned it off for 3-5 min., and when turning it back on was fine and fine since then. Preceding this error message was a fuzzy low volume reception. Any others with similar problem? Is this a harbinger of further problems withthe audio system?:beat:

probably the most common problem of the new e-class - the infamous audio gateway, I would suggest u ask your dealer to give u the latest software, it should take care of the problem. GL HTH!

My audio is forever muting itself for no reason.

It is usually OK next time i start up but is annoying when u want to listen to something but just can't cos the car is having a bad day. For a 50K car this is not acceptable. Anyway the monkeys at the dealers aren't any help...they just nick things from ur car.

Yeah, I got the same problem. At first I thought it was the CD that I burned that has some problems, which caused the problem. Later I noticed that it's the same way to FM radio.. But, it goes away after a few seconds. a couple months ago.. My CD changer stop working!! I took it to the dealer, they replaced a new changer for me and told the CDs got jammed in there... Haven't really had any problem... Till a couple days ago!! the stereo control on the steering wheel isn't working properly. I had to hit a few time to change the tracks.... I don't know.. no big deal yet.. we will see if more problems comes up!! then Iwill take it to the dealer again..
