2006 E350 won't go into any gear
this car is really pissing me off! drove to the grocery store, bought some food, started the car and put it in gear.....nothing happened. run thru P, R, N & D with the shifter but the gear indicator on the dash remains in P. Pulled transmission code 2805 [(164/216/221/251) the signals from the selection range sensor are implausible in comparison with the signals from the intelligent servio module.] [the signals of the range selector sensor are implausible in comparison to the signals from the electronic selector lever module.]
so what broke?
so what broke?

First thing to check is to see if the shifter is still connected to the transmission. If the clip fell off, the lever is no longer connected. Put the car on jackstands, crawl under it, and look.
Pelican Parts has a DIY on the bushing; use the photos so you'll know what to look for.

Range Selector Sensor (Y38s1), The sensor is soldered onto the ribbon cable of the electric control module and cannot be replaced separately. There is also a mechanical connection that may have failed. Unfortunately you need to drop the pan the to inspect or replace those items. The selection can be re-learned via DAS. And I would also consider the range selector in the center console before the Y38s1 inside the trans.
