Hi MB family, I have been a lurker for a while now I do admit but I finally (sadly) have a necessity to post. I have recently become the owner of a 2005 e55 amg and she is beautiful, however, I am finding myself in a bit of a pickle with my new purchase regarding the airmatic suspension. Let me start off by saying that the car has one year old Arnott rear air springs, and one year old Arnott front air struts. It also has a new air compressor and air compressor relay. I am having an intermittent problem with the suspension. So far I have out about 2,000 miles on the car and I am just recently seeing the problem. On my way back from a trip I received the “Stop car too low” light on my dash and realized that my rear passenger tire was tucked all the way into the fender. After stopping I decided to drive it the rest of the 20 miles home. I took it straight to the shop where they let it sit for a day and without running star on it or inspected it told me I needed to replace everything on my airmatic system... $6000. It goes without saying I drove it home from there after paying them their diagnostic fee. After driving it home I messed with the compressor a little, wiggles it around, found a hole in the intake hose (black) and replaced it and all of a sudden the car worked perfectly for about a week or two. All of a sudden my car is back to leaking as of yesterday because whenever I got my two passengers and I into the car then it says “stop car too low” but with just me in the car it doesn’t trigger a warning. Whenever I turn the car on the compressor kicks on for about 10-15 seconds and then cuts off without the car raising at all. Immediately upon cutting off I get a visit workshop error message for the airmatic system. From there on pressing the raise car button does nothing and neither does any of the suspension settings. I am going to take it to a new shop this week who I have confirmed can pull fault codes from Mercedes but before/while I do so could anyone chime in on what could be going on with my system? It is only an intermittent problem so I was considering valve block but I just do not know. Another theory of mine was maybe the passenger rear was leaking intermittently and then the rest adjusts to it and then the car will not raise it for some reason. Sometime it holds all four heights perfect for 72 hours at a time I know for a fact and then sometimes like lastnight it leaked out to being slammed within 12 hours. ANY help, information, tips, etc would be extremely helpful as I am very new to this. I know that I could switch to Coilovers but if it is something that is going to be less than $1000 to fix then I would like to keep the air suspension as I have all new struts and new compressor. TIA.
