How bout the '05 E500's?

The dealer's computer says our 500 wagon was made on June 8, but as yet no word on delivery.

Anyone have a handle on when these babies will ship to the States?

Any more info on what options are in and which are out?

Just curious -- how did you order the car if you don't know what the options and option packages are? Also, did you have a 2005 price before you ordered?

Receive Prep & Roll...

Once the car is built, it can take any time, up to 2 weeks to be loaded on a ship. (Ships like to leave loaded) Once the ship sails, figure 4 weeks & 3 days to your driveway. Your dealer will get the car dropped at his lot & move heaven & earth to deliver it ASAP to you to keep his finance costs as low as possible.

Generally speaking they'll unpack the mats/accessories/hood ornament, wash it, walk around it, & start it. If all 4 events go well... its ready to roll & they'll spray Armor All on the tires & call you within seconds.

The 2005 options and packages were listed on the dealer's computer. But, we understand that MB sometimes/often makes changes as time passes. As far as we know, no changes have yet been made to the original options and packages listed in May for the 2005 500 wagons. Maybe someone on this forum knows, and if so, we'd like very much to hear.

As to price, we're a bit in the dark. We were guided by the option and package costs listed for the '05 320CDI, and we're assuming a similar % increase on the MSRP as well. Not entirely comfortable, but we had to turn in the bad ML500 to make the buy-back deal. On the plus side, the dealer gave us a 2004 ML as a loaner till our new wagon comes in. What a way to buy a car!?:hammer:

'05 on the water

Dealer said today my 05 500 wagon is on the water and should arrive US dock next week. Expects to make delivery by week beginning July 5th. Spiritually, I'm from Missouri. Let's see!

how bout the 05 e500

tri-star in mo, your car is on the ship telex, it is sitting at the port in germany waiting to set sail, benz has not released the launch date of the e-class wgn other than july, so this could mean the 1st or the 31st, but hopefully for you it will be the 1st.

It's in Baltimore

Close, but no cigar.

Dealer sees that our wagon is now on the dock in Baltimore, MD. Waiting for MBUSA to release 05 E500s. He says that while the official date is Aug 1st, he thinks they may release the 05s in mid July, based on earlier experience.

Still no price! Oh well.

Assuming the info is accurate (he was reading from a computer print out) you other guys with early 05 320 and 500 orders should be seeing cars in July/early August as well.

**He did say MBUSA had made some changes in option packages but I didn't have time to get the details. Will post if I do.

about e-500

wow, was just trying to help you, well tell your mystery dealer that dealerorderingguide. i.e mercedes benz shows release date as july of 05 not august, but anyway good luck with your new car and hope you enjoy it.

Hey tntmcj, the "close, but no cigar" wasn't for meant for you, but me. I've been operating in the dark with this buy-back and new order since April. Just a bit frustrating. Can't say I have 100% confidence in the info I receive from the dealer. But, to the extent it may be useful to others with 05 orders, I've been posting progress, as I receive it. Your info sounds a lot more promising and will pass it along to the dealer. Thanks for sharing what you know.

My Want List

Can I put in my usual plug? Like many on the board, I'd LOVE a diesel wagon with 4matic. Preferable with the 400CDI, but that might be gilding the lilly!

That would be just about perfect!

Any idea as to timing on the E55 wagon? Next year? I really wanted the E55 wagon but was told it was not going to be imported to the US. As such, I ordered an E500 wagon for October delivery but would wait if the E55 wagon is coming in the near future.
