M272 DE Swap
Hey all. I have an E350 in my neighborhood for sale with the dreaded camshaft adjuster failure. Dropping in a new engine is less of a headache and I'd be way up because the current owner will let it go for $1000 because he's moving out of state and wants it gone.
From what I understand the M272 DE in the SLK made more power due to a different intake manifold and direct injection. If I swap the ECU from the SLK along with the engine, do you think it'd link up plug and play? Or does the SLK have a different fuel pump for the direct injection? I've attached a link to the engine in question. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-MERCEDES-SLK350-Engine-65K-Warranty-Tested-OEM/132830453847?hash=item1eed4fe057:g:2IoAAOSwHI5bzzg f |
The ECU is coded to the electronic ignition switch, instrument cluster, TCU and shifter, among many other things. You can't mix and match these components.

Bummer. I figured I wasn't thinking of all the variables. I thought it would be cool to drop on of these direct injected motors in for an increase of 30hp.
