722.9 valve body question
Is it possible to transplant an old VGS1 conductor plate to a new valve body?
I know New conductor plates require new valve body but not sure if it applies the other way around. No issues with mine; I want to replace pressure regulating valves, six of them for preventative maintenance and to fix a minor 2-3 flare, soften up the shifts etc. Pricing sonnax for all 6 is around 300; I can get a new valve body for about 200 (212 part number) and just swap the valve bodies. Or if worst case, remove the new ones pressure valves and swap them. Has anyone done such a thing? |
You can not use the flow data from a VGS1 and transfer to a new updated plate...... It will give you problems. A 212 valve body number will not be compatible with a 220. Getting a new reman valve body assembly would be the best...... but is not easy to get. What kind of problems are you having?

Just minor annoyances such as harsh 2-1, minor flaring occasionally during shifting(seldom does it, may be 3-4 shift). When cold, the transmission is more harsh during shifting but solves itself after warming up. Just wanting to replace all the valve/regulator(and also clean the solenoids with magnets) while I do a full trans flush for smoother shifting. As I said, purchasing the sonnax kits runs way more than what I can get a new 212 valve body for. So the 212 valve body would require me getting a VGS2/3 conductor plate correct? If so, I'll hold onto the 212 part number until the VGS1 fails and buy a VGS2/3 |
