Transmission problems 2007 e320 bluetec
Ok, so maybe someone here can help me with this. I will explain everything in strict detail.
I bought this car a few weeks ago and the ride is amazing. But of course, I have some problems. Everytime I stop the car on an incline (i.e. taking a freeway exit,) the car takes off extremely slow as if the transmission in stuck in a lower gear, once it slightly gets up to speed, it does not shift. When this happens, I stop the car, put it in park, and turn the car off and turn it back on. The car drives completely fine once again until I come to a full stop on an incline again. I got the transmission fluid, filter, and gasket changed today but the car still has the issue (only when it's on an incline.) Is there a reset on the transmission that needs to take place? I really don't think that the transmission is bad considering the fact that the car works completely fine after turning the car off and back on. I would really appreciate some help with this and maybe even some troubleshooting steps that I can try? Maybe there is a transmission fluid level sensor that's out of whack? Please help me :( |
I will try to upload a video later on in the afternoon and paste the link here.

To reset your transmission, you can try this:
Just Put the key in ignition, turn to pos 2, floor pedal for 5 to 20 seconds (nobody really knows who long it really takes), turn key back to off, leave it in the ignition though, then release gas pedal, wait until your cluster goes off (that's when your CAN-B CAN-Bus shuts down) and remove the key. Lock the car if you want or need to so you can go back inside the house. Mike T. |
I just did what you told me to. Now I will probably test drive it a little later so that I can let you know if that solved the problem.

Push the switch at the lever from Comfort to Standard.
That should confirm on dashboard display. Still even on 2nd gear the 642 engine has so much torque, that possibly your engine needs tune-up of flappers cleaning. |

Again, find independent with STAR a quick test will identify stored/current fault codes if any and they should have the ability to update transmission software to current version. See attached bulletin.

Not quite the same issue with my 2007 E320 Bluetec I bought new; after owning for 11 years, last year I experienced erratic gear changes and finally it got stuck in 1st gear; it was the speed sensor in the valve body. I had an option of just having the speed sensor replaced however chose to replace the valve body and conductor plate; an expensive option but I did not want to have MB having to replace another sensor or relay in a few years; net result, the transmission is extremely smooth and hopefully last me another ten years since I've only done a little over 80,000 miles from new. Considering the amount I spent on suspension upgrades to Bilstein IRC in just the second year I think, plus focal component door speakers, there's no way I'll consider another Mercedes or similar car in my near future.
