All electricals went dead .. how to troubleshoot?

Three days ago I drove home and parked our '07 E350 in the garage. Everything seemed normal. The next morning I got in the car, inserted the key in the ignition and tried to start the car. But the key would not turn. All electricals appear dead: no lights, no ignition, no doorbell sounds when first getting in the car, no instrument panel display, no headlights or taillights, no horn, no keyfob locking or unlocking doors and trunk ... absolutely nothing. Totally cold iron.

Any guesses as to what has happened? This is a one-battery car, and the battery is fully charged. Where to begin?

Verify battery ground is still connected to ground.

Then move to the pre-fuse boxes then onward to the fuse boxes located on the SAM modules and in the dash.

Fuses and relays for an earlier W211 are here:

Example of the pre-fuse blocks below; disregard the auxiliary battery portion of the circuit but it will give you an idea. The F32 should be under the passenger floorboard, F33 in the trunk.

Be sure to post the solution.

Addendum, could be an issue with the EIS. CAN bus sleeps until the EIS activates the bus. Hopefully not...
