Replacment for metal blade key

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement for the metal insert that goes inside the smart key? Do they have some way to know from the vin what the key pattern was or something? Car is a 2007 E550. When I bought the car it only came with 1 smart key. I didnt realize until recently that that smart key does NOT have the metal blade insert in it. I didnt even know that was something to look for. I would like to get a replacement emergency key if thats possible. If my battery dies I am in trouble because I wont be able to open the trunk without battery power or the metal blade key.

Thanks!

Your MB dealer can order it by VIN and have it within two days, usually overnight. I would visit the dealer first as MB changed the remote style to the newer "chrome" remote. This makes a difference on the length of the new key, or blade as MB calls it. If you order it over the phone you just need to make sure you tell them you have the black or chrome remote.

awesome! thanks! I have the chrome remote. I will stop by or call them to try and see how much it is.... hoping it isnt a ton of money but have a feeling it will be lol

In 2017, my blade listed for $65. I originally ordered the remote without the blade then found it would not work as the new remote was the chrome style. The part number was 212-760-19-06.

Thanks Mike! Appreciate it! $65 doesn't sound bad at all!

After googling that part number I found this post, with a chart at the bottom https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...-adapting.html

I think mine is actually the middle one, A203 766 50 06 (chrome remote w/ round panic)

Part # is irrelevant, master key is a theft related part (TRP) that will need to be ordered through dealer. Check with several dealers to compare pricing.

x2 on checking the pricing.
I just decided to buy keyless go key and was not happy with $800 estimates, so being in California, I went to a dealer I knew from the past and got new key for around $500 total.
The blade was listed at $57.
Also make sure you exercise the tumblers on annual basis. Too many owners had emergency, only to find that tumbler not used for 10+ years is frozen.

I paid $35 for my blade key in 2017 , they want proof of ownership. Wesmont IL dealer.
