Sunroof up on one side and down on the other
 Have searched all the sunroof threads on this site to solve this problem. I have removed the motor and tried to push down on high side to equalize cables and they will not budge. Does anyone in this forum know how to correct this misalignment? Vehicle is a 2007 E550 with 90K. Sure don't want to have dealer correct it at $3K. I did have the machine gun noise when it came to a stop in this crooked position. Motor is out at this point. Help!

Pano or standard tilt/slide?
|
Guess I don't know the difference. It tilts at the rear of the glass and slides as well. It has a sunroof glass over the rear seating area which does not open but the front glass slides over it. It has shades which deploy with over front and rear glass. Hope that Identifies which it is.
More reading and it turns out that this has the Pano roof. Not mine, but I am selling it for a friend. |
NO SURPRISE HERE!
While another helpful member is assisting me off line I thought I would share another unhelpful experience with my local MBZ dealer. I was informed that the failed rubber grommets which secure the motor to the track assembly with the three T-25 screws are available only with the motor! That friendly price was only $425 which did include the screws however. Nothing they could do about that complete rip-off I was told. In fact the parts guy said sometimes MBZ doesn't help their DIY customers much and this is one of those times!

A couple of pics would be helpful...

Sunroof up on one side down on the other.
Here are the pics I have on this so far.

Here is the motor with strengthening screw I added to keep it from flexing, the original cause of the misalignment. And only one of the infamous grommets still intact. Looks like I'll have to fashion the remaining 2 myself...

Depending on how uneven it is and if it's the solar panel, you may check if the part that depresses the bar is still there. Mine is missing on driver side and gives me a partially open solar panel on one side. I added a full comment below.

W211 Uneven front most panel on panaramic sunroof
Hi all, thought I'd add my experience here with my 2003 E55 AMG pano sunroof uneven turbulence panel after closing. I noticed the panel in front of the sliding portion was uneven, about 1/4 to 3/8". At first I thought it was something complicated, out of synch etc, but then after looking more closely found that there is a plastic glide pad under the glass panel that depresses the bar that pushes the turbulence panel fully down as it moves forward. Mine is missing on my driver side. Mercedes can find no such part as is seems to come as part of the assembly for the entire glass panel. It's about 1 inch long, oblong black and the back portion fits into a 1/4x1/4" square hole. Any help on locating a replacement would be greatly appreciated!
Lubing here is key: As I worked on my sunroof for the first time I had to learn. It was super slow and I didn't know where to start. It turned out that the key to fixing the slow movement was lubing it where the metal support slides through the felt roof slots at the back of the window. After cleaning and lubing, my sunroof acts nearly as good as new and I'm sure its way easier on the mechanism. The only issue I still have is the missing glide and that the sunshade sometime hangs halfway and needs a nudge. |
