C-Class
i think over 90% of the actual e-classes are either in black or silver shades. there are nearly 10 different coats of black and silver/grey you can order.

Also, probably the safest color that dealers individually decided on to order for stock is "Brilliant Silver". If you ask me they are too plentifull & show a cookie cutter mentality bu dealers.
Basic black is considered "always in good taste" ala tuxedos, even though there are some nice variations of basic black in the MB palette.

some cars are meant to be certain colors, MB is IMHO the best in brilliant silver, Porches are best white, black or red, ferraris are best in red, Jags, british racing green

I've got Pewter w/ Stone int. I special ordered it. I think its an outstanding, "light" color combo. I look at the ext & int color combo together, and I was tired of a black interior in past cars.

I’ve wondered that too. I was told during one of the factory tours that of total MB production, 50% were silver/variants, 20% black/variants, and 20% everything else. Who knows if it’s true but casual observation seems to bear that out.
As I’m considering what color E to order (I really do like silver but I see it everywhere), I decided on Platinum Blue. My salesman said bad choice: “we call all blues . . . ‘Can’t sell blue’”. And he added, “Don’t get Stone.” Yet another dealer, who had several Platinum Blue stock vehicles, said everyone compliments the color. The one on the showroom floor had Stone and one couple was "oooing and ahhhhing" over it.
So, as often posted here, buy what makes you happy!

Stone interior looks beautiful, but you have to stay on it to keep carpets & mats clean. The seats & everything else stay clean. Door sills scuff if you're not carefull, but clean right up with Blue Coral Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner >Not for use on leather<.
I light interior says "Different, airy, & high maintenance" but its not a tough thing to keep clean.
All the E's are "Brilliant Silver", so if you don't mind being one of the thousands...
Your dealer would rather have you take a car in one of the thousands silver color particularly if the car is a lease. If they sell well brand new, he's betting it'll re sell well.
I'd say get what you want. You're NOT buying the car for his resale or the next customer. If you buy that way, the seller or 2nd owner is the beneficiary, at your expense. If resale is important to you, don't pick an int/ext color combo you see none of. It'll cost you a little at the back end.

I have to say that in the E, I don't see TOO many silver around here, but they are plentiful none the less. I see a lot of white. I love the Platinum Blue, because it does make the car more unique among other E's, an always look in interest when I see other Platinum Blue E's.
If you look at a lot of the promotional material from MB over the last five or so years, most of it is in silver, so I guess that is one of the reasons for its popularity.

And Platinum Blue was featured on the cover of the '03 E brochure and other promotional print/web photos. Since you have this color:
1. Does it tend to show dirt (my Desert Silver always looks clean)?
2. Is there much depth to the paint when waxed?
Thanks for some first-hand advice.

I love the Platinum Blue as well, as silver and black are so common. I will never buy another black car again since they are such a pain to keep clean, and the swirls show up so much.
Regarding using silver color in advertising, a lot of manufactures will use silver since this color shows the lines better.

My salesman told me that MB ships 80% in black and silver. I wanted the red but he was really adamant it would have poor resale.... Saw one the other day and it was awesome.....

Man, I've already been wondering how I'd keep my stone interior clean. This is my 1st new car ever, and thus I'm not a frrequent car cleaner. After a week, I've seen a few mysterious scuffs on the passenger door sills. I wouldn't mind if these were made of plastic or vinyl versus cloth. I'll try the Blue Coral cleaner on the sills though.

Hmmmm..... White carpet in a car... Kinda reminds me of a time growing up when my old man put off white carpet in the living room floor, and we had 9 kids in the family!!!!!
When we were looking at the 211s almost a year ago they had a car with the stone interior in it and I'll never forget how screwed up (filthy) it was.... Its quite beautiful but no way would I own it...

Once a week a few minutes is all it takes to keep it clean. Anyone who sees it is awed by the fact that its so light colored & clean...as I said it looks amazing.
