audio gateway drain after removal?
I have removed all (I think) of the components as my first step in diagnosing the cause. Audio gateway, teleaid module, voice control module, DC changer, and Audio 50 head unit. All are out of the vehicle, so at this point I unhooked the Sensomatic Brake controller (to keep it from cycling and blowing my meter) and set an ammeter inline with the battery post and battery cable end.
I opened the trunk, unhooked the two lights, and closed the latch on the trunk hood so it thinks it's closed. after waiting for the car to fall asleep, I start pulling fuses. at the beginning I had a 2.5-2.7 amp draw on the meter. None of the fuses 1-16 in the trunk made much difference, except for the number 6 fuse, for the audio gateway. When I pulled out that fuse, my draw went from fluctuating between 2.7-2.5 to 1.0-1.2 amp draw. This is very odd to me, because the audio gateway is on my shelf, not in the car. I also noticed that the fiber optic connection for the head unit, which is currently occupying an empty hole, was flashing red trying to connect.
What am I missing?
the audio gateway was on the driver's side of the trunk, the voice control/handsferee module and the tele aid module were under a cover in the front of the trunk, along with a flat card that seemed to be a fiber optic splitter of some kind. with the head unit and the cd changer, that's five components, which I thought was everything, but something is still trying to wake up the system, and there is still a 1.5 amp draw on a circuit to the removed audio gateway.
I want to get the draw issue fixed, and all audio components removed before I install the replacement touchscreen I have on it's way from China. I have had poor luck having the dealership here in Seattle use STAR to diagnose issues, last time the system was acting up they said it was the audio 50 headunit, and it was actually the teleaid module, so I don't consider them a viable resource for diagnostic.
Thanks for any help
