Navigation question

Hi,
I noticed that the map in the Navigation system is not accurate, probably outdated.I am trying to update. Is the NTG1 W211 nav V16 2016 the most recent map for this vehicle? (post 145 on benzworld). The files in that installation are 2014. I saw somewhere that newer maps could be installed but with some issues. Can't find anything definite about it. Also, would the COMAND update 2008 be the most current COMAND update? (post 178 on benzworld).
The car is 2008 E350 4matic W211 North America with Code 530.
Thanks.

Yes, they stopped making updates in 2016 and of course they used older map data to have it for sale in 2016. I would just use Waze or Google maps. Only way to get anything newer is to update to some Android Comand system with Android Auto or Apple Carplay.

Hi,
Thanks, cetialpha5.
How do I check the current COMAND firmware version? I tried MUTE+END+SERV and I tried SERV -> Lang ->Back and then END+"upper-left arrow"+Audio. Neither got me into engineering mode. I found that 1+3+8 works and asks for the update CD. Also Nav+5 works, enters into Nav diagnostic menu, but I did not find COMAND FW version there. I tried 1+4+7, I get a beep, but nothing happens.
The NAV disk in the trunk is 2008 BQ 6 46 0232 A211 827 17 65 Version 7.0.
Do I need an update to the COMAND_Update_2008, which has version 22.120 - 0829? How do I check my current version? Is there a way to enable video in motion? If not, is there a way to downgrade the COMAND firmware?
Thanks.

Comand gets updated as part of the navigation. There's a thread over at the other site that has a link to the latest comand. But I think if you find the last navigation update out there, it would automatically update your comand.

As for Video in motion, no idea, never used it. I seem to recall that you had to pay for it though and don't recall a way to do it for free being mentioned. Maybe with a full Xentry setup, but those aren't cheap either.

I think, there is a CD update for the COMAND (updates from the inside) and a separate DVD with 2016 maps that goes into the trunk. From what I read it seems that earlier COMAND firmwares had engineering menu enabled that had a hidden sub-menu that allowed video in motion. That engineering menu also showed current COMAND FW version. I am unable to access this engineering menu, meaning I probably have an updated FW. But I just wanted to check the version of the FW and I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks.

A simple way to find the current FW version was to input the COMAND firmware upgrade key combo and insert the upgrade CD. Then I got a message that I am on 46/2006 (V22.100) and it offered me to upgrade to 28/2008 (V22.120). Do you know what the differences between these 2 versions are?
Also, a downgrader CD to the 15/04 is mentioned on the internet. Is there a part number for this CD or a link with more info about it?
Is the engineering mode combo known for either 46/2006 or 28/2008? I found this old thread https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...ring-mode.html, but I didn't find anyone reporting progress on it.
I guess, Mr. Lars Thomas knows the combo. Is there a way of asking him?
