Drivers door won't open from inside or outside...
Hello forum,
New here and I've done a little searching via google and this site but not having a lot of luck, or at least not finding the answer I want to find...
I just purchased a 2008 MB E350 Wagon 4matic a few days ago. I went out to go to work this morning and the driver's door won't open. The remote actuates the lock/unlock function but neither the outer door handle nor the inner will open the door. One of the write-ups I found indicates that I'll have to cut into the panel and replace it to access the culprit in the door.
Is there anyone who has ran into this before, and if so, how did you address it?

Quick follow up. It's lunch time now so I came home to give it another shot. It seems as if the handle may be functioning, as the door did unlatch, but there is something at the hinge end of the door that appears to be binding. Any ideas?

And....solved. Apparently the hollow door seals collect rain and then freeze. I'll have to keep an eye on that. They ejected a snake of ice from the bottom. Before that it was a crunching sound. Kinda scary...

I'm not sure. I'll be investigating when I get it in the air a bit to look at CV joints etc.
I hadn't driven it in a few days and we've been having rain and freezing. As far as I can tell, the water froze up inside the hollow of the seal. I imagine it must have been in the vertical section at the front of the door as that would explain the binding. I could only get the door open about 2 or 3 inches. It was weird. I've had seals freeze to the car and make it difficult to open the door but never like this.

Ha! Yeah, this poor girl has probably never seen rain. It has spent it's whole life in a garage in California. Unfortunately, she'll be spending more time outside until I can get my other projects out of the garage.

Good idea. I've done that on other cars in the past. Not sure if this water that froze was in the seal itself or between the body and the seal. I assumed that it was the seal, as when it dropped out ,it was in a cylinder shape, like turning on a garden hose that has been frozen.
Anyhooo...siliconing up the seals is on the list.
