ratling noise 2008 e300 4matic
hi guys due to my mechanic having limited appointments cause of the pandemic am not able to show him this car yet,
the noise increases and happens mostly when in D and R and when steering is turned in D or R , happens sometimes for a sec when cold started other than that no other noises idk what it this could be? tranmission? power steering? diffrential??
Please have a listen i have uploaded it on youtube and let me know if its serious or something just rattling around when car is in D or R

yup tensoner belt everything was checked by my mechanic recently everything was good, my power steering fluid is on the low mark i have fluid coming in tomorow hopefully adding it probably makes a difference? if not then back to square one

Could also be a broken exhaust hanger causing metal-on-metal rattling. I had the same issue a while back, a front hanger was rusted and at idle I would hear a metallic sound similar to that. Turning the steering to full lock puts an increased load on the engine due to the belt driven power steering pump, that could make it worse.
Can you hear the noise while driving? A bad bearing on a belt driven accessory or tensioner/idler would get louder as the engine RPM increases.
